On To Africa

Sadly we must say goodbye to Clara's new home away from home, the Burj Al Arab.  As I type these words she is upstairs weeping about having to check out in a few hours----at least that's what I think she is crying about.  Let me listen closer for a minute: "Cheapskate.....Real husband would let me stay here for another week.....Wah-Wah-Wah....."  Then again, maybe I'll just turn the TV up a little bit louder.....There, much better.

The restaurant we ate at last night was quite spectacular.  They had a "Christmas" special on the menu which was a 6 course Lobster tasting menu with a wine course for each.  They actually did have a submarine simulator ride you went through to get to the restaurant which was pretty cool, and the entire restaurant was built in a circle around a huge reef with a couple hundred tropical fish including rays, eels, sharks and the like.  I wish I had better pictures but by course #3 I was lucky I could find my fork, let alone work a camera.  That and the fact that Clara is such a lighweight when it comes to drinking and kept pouring her wine into my glass.  But I could be sitting in the 20 degree temperature at home, so I guess I won't complain anymore.

We are off on a 4x4 desert adventure this afternoon which includes camel riding, belly dancing and driving around the desert in dune buggies.  Then we hit the airport at around 11:30pm for our 2:00am flight into Tanzania with a layover in Nairobi.  And then we wait for the safari to begin.

And now for something completely different.  Here are a few random shots from around the hotel:

Fish Tank in the Lobby wall next to the escalators

The Burj all lit up with different color lights.  That is the helicopter pad at the top which is green.  They won't let us go up there to take a look!!!!

And on that note, we'll see you in Africa.

Until next time.
