Well we finally made it to Dubai after our journey through Newark and Frankfurt. We got to our hotel at around 1:00am this morning (Wed 12/15) and hit the ground running about 9 hours later. Who needs sleep when you're on vacation? Clara arranged for a "private driver" to take us all around Dubai today, and we spent 10 hours or so with __________. (I keep forgetting his name and Clara is asleep right now, so I'll have to get back to you on that one.)
The two main highlights for me were going to the top of Burj Kahlifa (124 floors up) and taking a 40 minute seaplane ride over the entire Dubai area. Clara promises to post her comments tomorrow, so here are a few pictures for now.
These are the fountains at the Old Town Hotel which is at the base of Burj Kahlifa.
This is the Burj Al Arab, the hotel where we will be spending tomorrow evening, as seen from the seaplane ride we took this afternoon. There was a sandstorm in the area on Monday evening, and there is still a lot of sandy haze in the area.
That's all I have energy for now. Even though it's only 1:15 in the afternoon back in the states we are 9 hours ahead here, so it's way past my bedtime.
Before I sign off, a special shout out to our first two comment-ees, Clara's cousin Gary and his lovely wife Maureen, and our good friend Fred "Watching Scotty Grow" Riedel. Keep the comments flowing.
Until next time.
I can't believe that Clara would rather SLEEP than enter into the blog for all her fans. I am very disappointed right now. Matt, your entry's are superb, Clara, what can I say.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous - wish I could've gotten over to Dubai when I was in Qatar in August!! And vacation or not, jetlag once you're there is a BEYOTCH! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for sharing with us! It is fascinating traveling with you. To date, Matt's kidney comment and Clara your Devil Woman comment are by far my favorites! How amazing your experiences are~HOW can you EVER top this? I can ONLY imagine!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas friends!
